The Resort
Brunelleschi’s Manor – Medieval Apartments Resort
is
is located in the center of the medieval village of Vicopisano
, a Tuscan jewel where the genius of Florentine architect Filippo Brunelleschi built the Rocca del Castello that dominates the picturesque village. We therefore decided to pay homage to him by dedicating our structure to him: indeed, Brunelleschi was responsible for the architecture of the fortifications protecting Vicopisano, of which the Manor House in its historic role as a fort was a part, now as then.
A village of extraordinary beauty, Vicopisano still maintains
that medieval aspect
that immediately transports visitors back through the centuries, to the time of
Towers and Castles
, of stone streets and alleys, of the Castle towering over the hamlet and
of the romantic views of the countryside

surrounding.
In this context, Brunelleschi’s Manor House, which since the Middle Ages has played the role of a
defense fort
in Lucca, given its strategic position that casts its gaze over the Monti Pisani bordering the Lucca countryside.
The Resort
is in fact distributed right on the ancient medieval walls
which today serve both as real load-bearing walls for the apartments carved out and
as an incredible backdrop to the swimming pool
from which you will enjoy
a breathtaking and evocative panorama.
The blockhouse has been restored
according to the highest standards
of preservation while respecting the medieval historical heritage enjoyed by the entire structure, which boasts the protection of the Fine Arts and is now recognized as a Historic Residence.

The Stone Pool & Relaxation

was built with local stone from the Monti Pisani and enjoys the
splendid scenery

medieval walls
of Vicopisano. Guests will have, when they return from their daily excursions, the opportunity for a swim in the pool in the unique setting of a typical medieval Tuscan village.

The Oven & Cooking Experience
Each apartment in the Manor can make use of the
historic Forno, a common area and passageway for all guests to access both the exclusive pool and the garden and loggia. The Oven is a unique environment that we strongly wanted to maintain in its original form:
in the Middle Ages
the actual oven, which still measures 3mt by 3mt,
was at the service of the entire township for the production of bread

Today we wanted to pay tribute to him by making it

to our exclusive Tuscan Cooking Classes
and tasty aperitifs by the pool,
wine&food tastings

weekly themed dinners
reserved for resort guests. The Oven is
finely decorated
to the ceiling with the
typical implements of our country’s rural history

Adjacent to the Forno is another service area the Castro del Maiale: pigs were kept there, which also had an enclosed outdoor space that
today is instead our poolside aperitif corner.
The Medieval Court
The great medieval court of the Manor House has been
restored
with the same material of the time i.e. the famous Impruneta terracotta
Florentine
. Protected by ancient columns and the
century-old wrought iron chain
medieval, the court embellishes
the facade of the Manor House
with character e
unmistakable medieval style
thanks to the medieval coats of arms that still reflect the former power of the then fort.
Instead, the Tuscan Garden is home to a large, centuries-old olive tree of untamed beauty under which you will find
the pleasure of a break
on the stone benches
of the Monti Pisani
