The Prison
The Prison is a thematic apartment with an extraordinarily original character: it was in the Middle Ages no less than the actual prison of the Manor. Being originally an ancient fort and military outpost, it was equipped with a real prison area that today, after centuries, is instead a unique location in the world where you can spend an unforgettable stay: don’t worry, at the end of your stay… you will be released!
The Prison still retains its historical features: the large entrance door, made of Tuscan cypress, still has the barred window typical of cells while inside the large studio apartment is divided by the wrought-iron security grating that today instead separates the living area from the sleeping area in an original leap back in time: in fact, the apartment consists of a kitchen, living room and double bedroom with bathroom.
The Kitchen
In rustic tuscan masonry, the kitchen is characterized by the typical grit sink, by a large worktop with induction burners while the fridge and the dishwasher are located in the wooden recesses of the kitchen where you will also find pots, microwave, kettle , toaster and everything you need to prepare a beautiful Tuscan dinner. The environment also evokes in detail and furnishings a typical tuscan prison style that makes the location extraordinarily suggestive for a unique experience out of time!
The Living Room
The living corner with TV was created in the natural niche of the medieval walls to give you a suggestive break. In fact, the fortified walls of Vicopisano rest on the entire length of the apartment. The medieval walls, with the characteristic slit which has now become a window overlooking the surrounding countryside, offer a unique background to the location. You can notice the overlapping of different types of stone to confirm the construction of the fortification walls of Vicopisano in several historical periods: the first layer dates back to the first Roman settlement.
The Prisoner’s Room
The masterbedroom is separated from the living area by the wrought iron grate typical of the old prisons, a truly unique detail of style.
The large period king-size bed with a view from the ancient slit, now a window, overlooks the splendid panorama of Monte Pisano characterized by the suggestive terraces of ancient olive trees. The “exposed” wardrobe is a singular detail, made of poor recycled wood and wire mesh, typical of prison furnishings. The apartment is illuminated by characteristic medieval lanterns that make the environment particularly suggestive.
The Bathroom
The bathroom, like the other rooms, is certainly not devoid of style: the door, made of tuscan wood, is nothing more than the typical prison cell door with control peephole. The bathroom offers a large shower, toilet and sink made with an old tin tub while the mirror is made on a period window.
